The Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM) was founded in 1967 with the aim to promote the professional, scientific and academic endeavors of our members, and the advancement of the geosciences in Malaysia and in South East Asia. We publish the Bulletin, a journal for scientific papers and the Warta Geologi, a Newsletter for information of the activities of the Society. We organise conferences, field trips, seminars, short courses and technical talks.
The Bulletin is the official journal of the Geological Society of Malaysia. First published in 1968, it is a leading geoscience journal in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The Bulletin is a double-blind peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal which publishes Earth Science research that addresses not only trending research areas but also high-quality application topics. The Bulletin is published twice a year (May and November) by the Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM). All papers will be subjected to review by two or more reviewers.
Warta Geologi publishes peer reviewed short geological communications and original research on Earth Science. Warta Geologi is published three times a year (April, August and December) by the Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM). All papers will be subjected to double-blind review. Warta Geologi also reports on activities and news about GSM and the geoscience community in Malaysia.
The Society has a membership of about 700 geoscientists based in Malaysia as well as abroad. The membership of the society is not only limited to geology graduates, lecturers and professionals, but it is also open to other science students, including those majoring in geophysics and engineering.
