KITARAN AGGREGAT: KAJIAN KES KEHILANGAN-KERUGIAN DI KUARI DAN TAPAK BINAAN

Abstrak: Pertumbuhan ekonomi pesat telah menyumbang kepada pembangunan industri pembinaan di Lembangan Langat dan meningkatkan permintaan untuk bahan binaan aggregat. Penilaian kitaran aggregat dijalankan untuk lembangan ini dengan permulaan daripada proses pengekstrakan di kuari kepada proses penggunaan di tapak binaan sehinggalah pembuangan akhirnya. Kajian kes dijalankan di sebuah tapak kuari dan tapak pembinaan dengan mengambilkira kehilangan-kerugian ke atas alam sekitar fizikal. Hasil yang diperolehi menunjukkan kehilangan-kerugian yang disumbangkan daripada aktiviti pengkuarian sebanyak 42,200 tan setahun sementara kehilangan daripada tapak binaan boleh diabaikan. Kajian juga mendapati wujudnya penggunaan semula bahan buangan aggregat di tapak, namun bahan aggregat daripada kuari tidak dikitar semula disebabkan oleh kekurangan permintaan.

 

Abstract: Economic growth has supported the construction industry in the Langat Basin and increased the demand for construction aggregates. An assessment of aggregate flows has been conducted for the Basin. The starting point was the extraction of aggregates at quarries, through its consumption at construction sites and final disposal. Case studies were conducted at a representative quarry and a construction site, to quantify the dissipative losses to the physical environment. Results obtained show that dissipative losses at the quarry is about 42,200 tonnes/year while losses from the construction site is negligible. The study also revealed that while aggregate material is reused at the construction site, material from the quarry is not recycled largely due to poor market demand.
