Abstract: The Sarawak petrified woods occurred within the Tertiary Kayan Sandstone in the vicinity of Bungo Range. They were .preserved for million of years by the process of petrification that transformed the wood into silica (opal or chalcedony). It is unique because of its colour and preservation where the cell structures and grain of wood were clearly retained. These hidden treasures must be preserved for future generations and the government bodies concerned are greatly needed for conservation.
